Yes, acid foods create heartburn and gas-neither are good unless you're trying to lure BigFoot out of the bushes. This acid/alkaline balance is very complicated. A person could have an heartburn because of stress, which is an acid lifestyle. This is a whole other topic.
The Acid we're talking about is more of an overall method of how your body is dealing with what you eat. Remember, what your body can't get rid of, it stores into fat. There is nothing else it can do. Your body needs a certain balance to function and it will do whatever it takes to balance itself.

Would being too acidic lead to having a tremendous amount of heartburn?? Even in pregnant women? What do you think?

A person having a tendency for heartburn would want to eat Alkaline foods for sure and keep the acid ones to a minimum.
